Haveri, February 15: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Saturday that the Revenue Department is distributing title deeds to one lakh beneficiaries for the second time, bringing the total to 2.20 lakh families. He described this as a record achievement.
Siddaramaiah attributed Karnataka’s top GDP ranking in the country to the policies implemented by his government that empower citizens. He made these remarks while inaugurating a celebration for the government’s 1,000 days in office, where one lakh title deeds were distributed in an event organized jointly by the district administration and the Revenue Department.
He praised Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda, stating that the department has seen significant progress since he took charge. Siddaramaiah presented supporting data, asserting, “Our government, which prioritizes people’s rights, has made the state’s GDP number one in the country. The state is also advancing rapidly in GST tax collection.”
He claimed these successes were achieved despite injustices from the central government. Expressing concern, he noted that former Chief Minister and current MP Basavaraj Bommai, along with Prahlad Joshi and Jagadish Shettar, have remained silent on issues affecting the state.
Siddaramaiah stated, “Our government has completed two years and nine months. We have fulfilled 243 of our promises. The remaining promises will be completed in our remaining term. During 2013-18, we also fulfilled all our promises and an additional 30 not mentioned in our manifesto, proving our commitment.”
He accused the BJP of spreading false propaganda that the state’s treasury is empty, while asserting that they failed to fulfill their own promises while in power.
He added, “So far, we have directly transferred ₹1.18 lakh crore to the people of the state through our guarantee scheme.”
Citing assessments from economists like Amartya Sen and Abhijit Banerjee, along with studies from newspapers and universities, the Chief Minister stated that attempts to mislead the public about the government’s performance are misguided.
He reiterated his accusation that the central government has wronged the state by withholding funds. Siddaramaiah concluded, “Our successful 1,000 days in office are proof of our commitment to governance for the people. The Congress government has consistently worked to fulfill its promises.”
