Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar Allocates Departments to 13 Ministers

Bengaluru, June 5: Karnataka’s newly appointed Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has allocated departments among 13 members of his cabinet as of Thursday night. The list of department allocations has been sent to Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot for official notification.

Chief Minister Shivakumar retains key departments including Finance, Cabinet Affairs, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), Intelligence, and other undistributed departments.

Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of former Chief Minister and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Siddaramaiah, has been appointed as a minister for the first time. He has been assigned the much-anticipated Urban Development Department.

Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara has been given charge of the Revenue and Sports Department, having previously held the Home Department in the last government.

K.H. Muniyappa has been assigned the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department. K.J. George will oversee the Energy and Tourism Departments. M.B. Patil has been allocated the Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Department, while Ramalinga Reddy will manage the Water Resources (Major and Medium Irrigation) Department. Satish Jarkiholi has been given the Public Works Department (PWD).

Krishna Byre Gowda has been tasked with the Greater Bengaluru Development Department, which includes the Greater Bengaluru Authority, various municipal corporations, the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation.

Priyank Kharge has been assigned the Home Department (excluding the Intelligence Branch), as well as the Information Technology and Biotechnology (IT-BT) and E-Governance Departments.

U.T. Khader has been given the Health and Family Welfare Department, having previously served as the Assembly Speaker.

Bairathi Suresh will manage the Transport Department, while Sharan Prakash Patil has been assigned the Medical Education and Skill Development Department. Ishwar Khandre will oversee the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RDPR) Department.

The allocation of departments follows a long-awaited formation of the new cabinet. Once the Governor approves and issues the notification, the department allocations will officially take effect.
