Karnataka BJP Raises Concerns Over Voter List Inclusion of Pakistani and Bangladeshi Citizens

Bengaluru, March 14: The Karnataka BJP has expressed serious concerns regarding the inclusion of Pakistani and Bangladeshi citizens in the voter list, stating it poses a significant threat to national security.

During a press conference in Bengaluru, R. Ashok, the leader of the opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, emphasized that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list should not allow the addition of fraudulent votes.

He claimed that many individuals from Pakistan and Bangladesh have already entered Karnataka. If their names are added to the voter list, they could gain rights akin to permanent citizens, thereby jeopardizing national security.

Ashok mentioned that this issue was discussed in a recent workshop focused on preventing such names from being included in the voter list. He confirmed his participation in that workshop.

Targeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Ashok pointed out that the Chief Minister recently identified himself as a socialist while claiming to oppose caste and dynastic politics. However, he has still appealed for political support for his son.

Ashok sarcastically remarked, “So far, people have taken care of him, and now he is asking them to take care of his son. If, in a few months, he asks them to consider his grandson as well, wouldn’t that turn our democratic system into a monarchy?”

He noted that historically, kings would declare their sons as heirs, but now similar politics is emerging within a democratic framework.

Ashok stated that B.R. Ambedkar abolished the monarchy and established a democratic system. Leaders should earn the public’s trust through elections rather than promoting family members.

Regarding the misuse of LPG cylinders, he mentioned that the necessary services maintenance act has been implemented to prevent this. The state government should take stringent measures to curb black marketing.

He urged citizens to cooperate during the current crisis, accusing the Chief Minister of politicizing issues even in challenging times.

Ashok also alleged that the Chief Minister’s camp is continuously organizing dinner meetings. He highlighted that while ordinary people are facing hardships, the government is hosting lavish dinner events.

Furthermore, he claimed that some Congress leaders are privately dissatisfied with the state budget and are informally discussing its shortcomings.
