Kangana Ranaut Advocates for Increased Female Participation in Cinema at International Film Festival

New Delhi, March 25: The International Film Festival has officially commenced at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, running until March 30.

The inaugural ceremony featured prominent stars including Kangana Ranaut, Hema Malini, Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Anupam Kher, and Lauren Gottlieb. BJP MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut emphasized the need for greater female participation in cinema during her address to the media.

Ranaut stated, “If women are not encouraged, we will fail to understand their perspectives. Therefore, it is essential to promote women in the industry. Just as the Prime Minister is bringing women into politics, I believe films should also provide a platform for women, whether through film festivals, studio support, or showcasing their struggles, no matter how small. Encouraging them in any way would be a significant step forward.”

Actor Arvind Swamy also shared his thoughts on artificial intelligence (AI) at the event. He remarked that the capabilities of AI are set to expand significantly. In the future, films could be created without any assistance, with even a single individual able to produce a full feature film. The tools are evolving rapidly, and while they are currently used on a smaller scale, their application is expected to grow.

The festival will pay special tribute to the late actor Dharmendra, who will also receive a Lifetime Achievement Award, as announced by Hema Malini. Additionally, Sharmila Tagore will also be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The event was inaugurated by Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and numerous cinema stars are expected to participate over the five-day program.
