Jharkhand Police Strengthens Fleet with 1,485 New Vehicles

Ranchi, March 13: A significant initiative was launched on Friday to modernize the operations of the Jharkhand Police and enhance law and order in the state. Chief Minister Hemant Soren flagged off 1,485 new vehicles for the police fleet from the assembly premises.

The total allocation includes 636 four-wheel patrol vehicles (Mahindra Bolero BS-6 model) and 849 two-wheelers. The government has approved a total of 1,255 patrol vehicles and 1,697 two-wheelers, with the first phase of distribution completed today. Out of the 636 Boleros distributed, 614 vehicles were sent directly to various districts, while the remaining vehicles were assigned to Quick Response Teams (QRT) and other specialized units.

The police headquarters claims that this initiative will significantly bolster patrolling in both urban and rural areas. Alongside the vehicle distribution, the Chief Minister also laid the online foundation for 12 new state-of-the-art police stations, further strengthening the police infrastructure. These high-tech stations will be established in Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Garhwa, Giridih, Palamu, East Singhbhum, Gumla, Ranchi, Dumka, and Chatra districts.

A unique feature of these stations is that four specialized police units will operate within a single building, eliminating the need for the public to visit multiple offices for various complaints. Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasized that modernizing the police force is a government priority to ensure a fear-free environment for citizens.

Efforts are underway to empower the police force with technology and equipment to overcome resource shortages. Senior officials from the Home Department and top police headquarters personnel were also present at the event.
