Jharkhand High Court Demands CID Case Diary in Aman Sahu Encounter Case

Ranchi, May 4: The Jharkhand High Court has summoned the CID case diary from the state government regarding the police encounter of notorious gangster Aman Sahu. The court is taking suo motu cognizance of the matter.

Given the sensitivity of the case and the questions surrounding the encounter’s legitimacy, the court emphasized the necessity of reviewing the case diary to uncover the truth. The next hearing is scheduled for June 9.

During the proceedings, two distinct narratives emerged. The police claim that while transporting Aman Sahu from Raipur Jail in Chhattisgarh to Ranchi Hotwar Jail, they were attacked by assailants attempting to free him. They assert that in the ensuing chaos, Aman attempted to escape, prompting the police to engage in an encounter.

Conversely, Aman Sahu’s family has labeled the incident a premeditated “fake encounter.” His mother has alleged that the police deliberately murdered her son, framing the entire event as a conspiracy. The family has called for a CBI investigation to ensure impartiality in the case.

The petitioner’s lawyer argued in court that the FIR filed by the police focuses solely on the encounter and escape angles, neglecting the family’s allegations. He insisted that a separate FIR should be registered based on the family’s claims, noting that the online FIR filed by Aman’s mother has yet to be recorded.

On behalf of the government, it was stated that the CID is conducting a comprehensive investigation into all aspects of the case, negating the need for a separate FIR.

It is noteworthy that the High Court has previously reprimanded the government for delays and the failure to register an FIR in this case. The court has sternly remarked that no one is above the law and that registering an FIR is mandatory as per procedure.
