
Ranchi, February 18: The budget session of the Jharkhand Assembly commenced on Wednesday with an address from Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar. In his speech, the Governor highlighted the government’s achievements across various sectors, stating that the administration is committed to transforming Jharkhand from “good to great.”
He emphasized the need for the session to be productive and meaningful, expressing hope for positive and constructive discussions on policies, plans, financial priorities, and other public interest issues. The Governor affirmed that the government is making sincere efforts for the comprehensive development of the state while adhering to democratic traditions.
Addressing law and order, the Governor noted that the government has adopted a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against crime. Continuous actions have been taken against criminal and extremist elements over the past year. In 2025, 1,268 criminals were arrested in connection with 1,413 cybercrime cases. Through the cyber helpline, ₹111 crore was blocked, while ₹12 crore was returned to victims. Additionally, 54 public servants were arrested in anti-corruption efforts during the same year.
The Governor also mentioned the government’s initiatives for industrial development and investment in the state. Recently, Jharkhand has made a strong presence on global platforms. At the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos and high-level meetings in London, investment-friendly policies were effectively presented, resulting in investment proposals amounting to approximately ₹1.27 lakh crore. A single-window system has been implemented to promote MSMEs, and software parks have been developed in Ranchi, Silli, and Deoghar.
In the realm of job creation, the government is continuously striving to provide employment opportunities for youth in both government and private sectors. Through job fairs organized by the government, 12,000 youths have been selected for private sector roles.
The Governor also highlighted measures taken to protect the interests of Jharkhand’s migrant workers residing in other states, including the establishment of migrant assistance centers in seven states. Through the JPSC civil service exam, 342 candidates were appointed, and over 2,000 youths were recruited through JSSC examinations.
