Mukesh Pal Singh, a retired soldier, also joined the exam, having served 28 years in the Indian Army. At 50 years old, he remarked, “This is not the age to retire; I still have 10 to 15 years of work ahead of me.” He recalled his earlier selection in 1996 for a clerical position, which he had to forgo to join the military.

The UP PET, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission, is essential for candidates aspiring to secure positions as clerks, junior assistants, and other roles. This year, the exam saw a record number of participants, driven by the competitive nature of the job market. To ensure a fair testing environment, centers were equipped with CCTV surveillance, biometric verification, and sector magistrates.
