Bihar Aims to Boost Dairy, Vegetable, and Fish Exports to National and International Markets

Bihars CM Samrat Chaudhary outlines plans to enhance dairy, vegetable, and fish production for broader market access.

Patna, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced on Sunday that the state aims to enhance the reach of its dairy, vegetable, and fish products to both national and international markets. To achieve this, the government is strengthening systems for milk production, fisheries, processing, and marketing. Chaudhary emphasized the government’s commitment to increasing farmers’ and livestock owners’ incomes while providing better market access for their products.

During the inauguration of the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) at COMFED in Patna, the Chief Minister facilitated a direct transfer of ₹68.51 crore into the bank accounts of 106,063 dairy farmers through 5,832 dairy cooperative societies. This payment corresponds to the supply of over 1.46 million liters of milk. He also launched the newly established call center ‘Sudha Sampark.’

Chaudhary highlighted the importance of ensuring that dairy producers receive payments directly into their bank accounts, eliminating middlemen and enhancing transparency. Farmers will be issued unique farmer IDs, enabling digital monitoring of milk quality, fat content, and payment processes. The Sudha brand, which has become synonymous with Bihar, is set to establish its presence not just nationally but also internationally. A new facility in Tezpur, Assam, has already begun operations with a capacity of 20,000 liters per day, and plans are in place for additional units in Assam and Kolkata.

The Chief Minister shared the goal of establishing dairy producer cooperative societies in every village, aiming for a daily collection target of 500,000 liters of milk for the fiscal year 2026-27. Currently, about 2.39 million kilograms of milk are collected daily. Between April and September 2026, 4,804 new societies were formed. Chaudhary also inaugurated a Sudha cafeteria and vegetable shop at the Organic Garden in Patna, along with a Fresh Catch kiosk and Sudha parlor at the Meen Bhawan in Mithapur.

He flagged off a Fresh Catch vehicle destined for Siliguri from Buxar, announcing plans to set up 100 Fresh Catch kiosks. These will market fresh fish from Bihar under the brand ‘Fresh Catch (Fish of Bihar).’ The Chief Minister reiterated that agriculture and animal husbandry are foundational to Bihar’s economy. The government is dedicated to ensuring that villages, farmers, livestock owners, women, and youth participate in the state’s development journey. There is also a focus on increasing women’s involvement in animal husbandry and dairy production.

Chaudhary stated that with the support of JEEViKA, all 8,053 panchayats in the state will have JEEViKA-Sudha sales centers established by March 31, 2027. The goal is to train 3,200 Sudha Sakhi, creating job opportunities for rural women and enhancing the availability of dairy products locally. This event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Minister of Dairy, Fisheries, and Animal Resources Nand Kishor Ram, along with several senior officials.
