Karnataka Ministers Question Election Commissions Integrity Amid Ongoing Protests

Karnataka ministers raise serious concerns about the Election Commissions operations and voter list discrepancies during protests in Kalaburagi.

Kalaburagi, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Karnataka government ministers have raised significant concerns regarding the operations of the Election Commission and irregularities in the voter list. At a rally in Kalaburagi, Minister Priyank Kharge and Dr. Ajay Dharm Singh from Raichur criticized the central government and the Chief Election Commissioner, claiming that the ongoing protests are a battle to protect democracy and the Constitution.

Home Minister Priyank Kharge stated that critical legal questions have been presented to the Election Commission, but the body has failed to respond. He noted that the Supreme Court has also taken notice of the issue. Kharge questioned who authorized changes to the Form-6 process without parliamentary oversight and how Form-7 was distributed so extensively. He revealed that approximately 13.2 million voters, about 15 percent of eligible voters, have been removed from the voter list without their knowledge.

Kharge further inquired about the need for judicial immunity for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He questioned why the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is acting as the spokesperson for the Election Commission when legally significant questions are being raised. “Where is Gyanesh Kumar hiding?” he asked.

He emphasized that if governments are formed based on fabricated mandates and majorities, it constitutes a violation of the Constitution and amounts to treason. Kharge called for Gyanesh Kumar to resign and face legal consequences.

Minister Dr. Ajay Dharm Singh added that the rally at Delhi’s Ramleela Maidan is drawing not only Congress leaders but also citizens from across the country. Millions are participating in the protest, eager to understand the true intentions behind the current situation.

Singh accused Gyanesh Kumar of being complicit in the matter, questioning why Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are protecting him. He noted that Kumar has no affiliations with any political party, yet he continues to receive support.

Additionally, Singh pointed out that two other commissioners of the Election Commission have confirmed that 14 decisions were made in the past ten months without consensus, and the public was not informed. He expressed confusion over why the Prime Minister and Home Minister are shielding Kumar despite these serious discrepancies.
