Jammu, March 24: The police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district announced on Tuesday that they have successfully apprehended five fugitives wanted in multiple criminal cases.
The arrests were made under the vigilant supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Surankote, as part of a significant operation targeting declared criminals. The police station in Surankote executed the operation, successfully capturing the five individuals who had been evading arrest for an extended period.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Basharat Hussain, Mohammad Iqbal, Ghulam Ahmad, Mohammad Sharif, and Mohammad Akram. All of them had been declared absconders.
A special police team was formed under the oversight of the Station House Officer (SHO) of Surankote, with overall supervision by the SDPO. Acting on specific and reliable information, the teams diligently tracked down and arrested the fugitives who had been on the run for several years.
All arrested individuals have been presented before the competent court for further legal proceedings. The Poonch district police reiterated their strong commitment to upholding the rule of law and taking stringent action against absconding criminals and those involved in criminal activities.
The Jammu and Kashmir police and security forces are conducting aggressive anti-terrorism operations throughout the region. They are also monitoring common crimes, drug trafficking, and hawala rackets. It is believed that funds generated from illegal activities are used to promote terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
