
Baramulla, April 20: In a significant operation, police in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir have dismantled an illegal gambling den in the Patan area. Four individuals were arrested during the raid, allegedly involved in both playing and operating the gambling activities. Cash and playing cards were also seized from the scene.
The police acted on credible information regarding this illegal operation, leading to a swift and planned raid by the Patan police. The four suspects were caught red-handed while gambling. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Aslam Shah, son of Mohammad Ismail Shah, a resident of Malpora Patan; Ejaz Ahmad Shah, son of Abdul Rahman Shah, from Nihalpora Patan; Shabeer Ahmad Gojri, son of Mohammad Subhan Gojri, also from Patan; and Irfan Ahmad Bhat, son of Hilal Ahmad Bhat, residing in Iqbal Colony Patan.
Authorities recovered a total of ₹10,600 in cash used for gambling, along with playing cards and other related materials. The seized items have been taken into custody for further investigation.
An FIR has been registered at the Patan police station under the relevant sections of the Gambling Act. The police have initiated a detailed inquiry to determine how long this gambling operation has been running and the identities of any other individuals involved.
Baramulla police have stated that illegal activities will not be tolerated under any circumstances. They have urged the public to report such unlawful activities immediately, allowing for timely action to maintain law and order in the community.
