Jackie Shroff Wishes Rakhi Gulzar on Her Birthday with a Nostalgic Post

Mumbai, August 15: Renowned actress Rakhi Gulzar, known for her impactful performances in both Bengali and Hindi cinema, is celebrating her birthday today. On this special occasion, actor Jackie Shroff extended his heartfelt wishes in a unique way.

Jackie Shroff took to Instagram to share a nostalgic photo of Rakhi from her earlier days as a leading actress in the industry. He wrote, “Happy Birthday, Rakhi Ji. Your work and the memories associated with you will always remain alive in our hearts.”

Rakhi was born on August 15, 1947, in Ranaghat, West Bengal. She carved a niche for herself in Hindi and Bengali films from the 1970s to the 1990s, earning numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri. Rakhi began her acting career with the Bengali film ‘Badhuwaran’ in 1967, and made her Bollywood debut in Rajshri Productions’ ‘Jeevan Mrityu.’ It was during this film that she met the famous lyricist Gulzar. Their friendship blossomed into love, leading to their marriage in 1973, and they welcomed a daughter named Meghna Gulzar. This was Rakhi’s second marriage, but it also faced challenges and did not last long.

It is said that during their marriage, Gulzar had stipulated that Rakhi would stop working in films. However, she continued to act, which ultimately led to the end of their relationship.

Rakhi’s last film as an actress was the 2003 Bengali-Hindi project ‘Shubh Muhurat,’ for which she received a National Award. Currently, she enjoys a peaceful life away from the film industry at her farmhouse in Panvel, near Mumbai.
