Mumbai, August 15: Parental concern for children is often justified. However, sometimes this fear can hinder children’s dreams. Actor Sunny Deol faced a similar challenge when his father, Dharmendra, influenced him to abandon his aspirations.
In a recent episode of the quiz reality show “Kaun Banega Crorepati,” Sunny Deol opened up about his unfulfilled dream of becoming a professional Formula 1 racing driver.
During the show, megastar Amitabh Bachchan asked him, “Sunny ji, we heard you wanted to be a racing driver? Formula 1 and all?”
Sunny shared his passion for driving, revealing that his father’s protective nature kept him from pursuing this dream. Dharmendra believed that sports come with significant risks.
“Yes, I was very passionate about driving. As you know, whenever we wanted to pursue sports or anything else, my father’s overprotectiveness prevented us from getting permission. So that dream remained unfulfilled,” Sunny explained.
In this episode, Sunny was joined by his co-stars from the film “Bantwara 1947,” Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta.
Although he could not fulfill his dream of a career in racing, Sunny Deol has carved out a successful, content-driven career in Hindi cinema, becoming one of Bollywood’s most famous action stars.
He is currently seen alongside Preity Zinta in “Bantwara 1947,” which also features Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film was released in theaters worldwide on August 14.
