Beirut, June 9: An Israeli airstrike in the prominent coastal city of Tyre, Southern Lebanon, has resulted in the deaths of eight individuals. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a social media alert, instructing residents to evacuate the area.
According to Lebanon’s Civil Defense Agency, the attack targeted a popular residential neighborhood. Initial reports confirm eight fatalities, but no official figures on the number of injured have been released yet.
The Israeli military has ordered evacuations in several areas of Tyre, including predominantly Christian regions. Following this evacuation order, a mass exodus from Tyre has begun. As reported by the National News Agency (NNA), Lebanese Civil Defense teams are actively assisting the elderly, sick, and other vulnerable citizens to reach safer locations.
In light of the situation, relief agencies have initiated special evacuation operations to assist those unable to travel on their own. Many elderly individuals have been transported out of the city using ambulances and other relief vehicles.
According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, two people, including a child, were victims of an attack in Marwaneh, Southern Lebanon, with ten others injured. Additionally, the NNA reported that three people were injured in a drone strike in the city of Shukria, two of whom were members of the Civil Defense Force.
The Civil Defense Force stated that their team was attempting to rescue the injured and victims when a second drone strike occurred, resulting in minor injuries to two of their staff members.
In recent weeks, there has been a noticeable increase in Israeli airstrikes and evacuation orders in Southern Lebanon. Tyre and its surrounding areas have experienced multiple attacks, leading to significant displacement among the local population.
