New Delhi, August 5: The 13th BRICS Education Ministers‘ meeting, under India’s presidency, is set to commence in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from August 5 to 7. Over 200 representatives, including education ministers and senior officials, will participate in this significant event.
An Iranian delegation has also arrived in India to take part in the meeting. Dr. Masoud Shams Bakhsh, the Acting Minister of Science, Research, and Technology, and Dr. Mohammad Nabi Shahiki, Deputy Minister of Technology and Innovation, landed in New Delhi on Wednesday. They will join the discussions in Bhubaneswar.
The information was shared through an official post by the Iranian Embassy on X. The embassy noted that during their stay in Delhi, the Iranian representatives will visit several leading scientific and technological institutions in India.
The three-day meeting will begin with a gathering of senior BRICS education officials on August 5. A joint discussion involving ministers and senior officials is scheduled for August 6, followed by the official meeting of the 13th BRICS Education Ministers on August 7, which will include India’s Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi. The agenda will cover topics such as educational cooperation, innovation, and skill development among member countries.
India has prioritized youth participation during its presidency of BRICS this year. In line with this vision, a student-centered initiative called “Model BRICS” has been launched.
This initiative will coincide with the ministerial meetings and will be conducted in various parts of the country. Its aim is to engage young citizens in the BRICS process and assist them in understanding diplomacy, multilateral cooperation, and consensus-building methods.
The meeting in Bhubaneswar is considered a crucial step towards deepening educational collaboration among BRICS nations.
