Iran Warns US Military to Stay Away from Strait of Hormuz

Tehran, May 4: Iran issued a stern warning to the United States military on Monday, advising against any entry into the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian military stated that any attempt by US forces to approach or enter this strategic waterway would be met with an attack.

A statement from Iran’s Central Command, Khatam al-Anbia, emphasized, “We warn that any foreign armed forces, especially the aggressive US military, will be attacked if they attempt to approach or enter the Strait of Hormuz.”

This warning comes as the US announced the launch of an operation starting Monday to assist vessels stranded in the waterway. According to Xinhua News Agency, the initiative aims to restore freedom of navigation in the region.

The Iranian military asserted that the security of the Strait of Hormuz is under its control, and coordination with its armed forces is essential for the safe passage of vessels.

Previously, former US President Donald Trump mentioned that several countries had requested assistance from Washington as their ships were trapped in the strait, despite having no ties to the ongoing conflict. He referred to this mission as “Project Freedom.”

According to Trump, the operation aims to assist “innocent and neutral ships” to reach their destinations safely. He also noted that many vessels were running low on food and other essential supplies, worsening the situation for their crews.

US Central Command confirmed that the operation would commence on May 4, providing military support to ensure safe passage for commercial vessels. This operation will involve guided-missile destroyers, over 100 aircraft, unmanned platforms, and approximately 15,000 troops.

This development raises concerns about escalating tensions in the region, as the Strait of Hormuz is considered a crucial route for global oil supply.
