Iran Rejects US Proposal for 48-Hour Ceasefire Amid Ongoing Tensions

Tehran, April 4: Iran has officially rejected the United States’ proposal for a 48-hour ceasefire. This information was reported by Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency on Friday. According to Fars, the proposal was delivered to Iran through a friendly nation on Thursday.

The Xinhua News Agency reported that following Iranian attacks specifically targeting a US military depot on Kuwait’s Bubiyan Island, Washington has intensified its diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire.

Fars speculated that the proposal was made after the escalation of crisis in the region and the underestimation of Iran’s military capabilities, which posed “serious difficulties” for US forces.

The report further noted that Iran did not respond to the offer in writing but instead continued its attacks on the battlefield.

Meanwhile, the Iranian military confirmed that its air defense system shot down a USA-10 “Warthog” attack plane over the southern maritime area near the Strait of Hormuz, causing the aircraft to crash into the Persian Gulf.

Earlier, the IRGC claimed to have downed a US F-35 fighter jet in central Iranian airspace. Later on Friday, Iran’s semi-official Mehr News Agency reported that a US Black Hawk helicopter collided with a projectile while searching for the pilot of the downed US fighter jet.

Yadollah Rahmani, the governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, urged local tribal and rural communities to assist authorities in locating the “enemy pilots.”

It is noteworthy that on February 28, Israel and the US jointly attacked Tehran and several other Iranian cities, resulting in the deaths of then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, senior military commanders, and civilians. In retaliation, Iran targeted Israeli and US positions in the Middle East with missile and drone strikes.
