Iran Ready for Peace Talks Under International Law, Says President

Tehran: Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed the country’s readiness to engage in any peace process aimed at ending conflict, provided it aligns with international law and fully protects the rights of Iran and its people.

According to a statement from the Iranian President’s office cited by Xinhua, Pezeshkian spoke over the phone on Tuesday with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. Both leaders emphasised the urgent need to establish lasting peace and security in West Asia.

Pezeshkian criticised the United States for its threats and actions against Iran, stating that these moves undermine regional security. He accused Washington of obstructing Iran’s previous diplomatic ties with Europe and described the US approach to negotiations as inconsistent and demanding.

The Iranian President called on Muslim countries to work together to ensure stability, security, and development across the region. In response, the Saudi Crown Prince declared that Saudi Arabia would not tolerate any attack, threat, or escalation of tensions against Iran.

The Crown Prince also reaffirmed his country’s willingness to cooperate with Iran and other regional nations to maintain peace and security.

Separately, on Tuesday, Mohammad Akbarzadeh, Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy, warned neighbouring countries against using their airspace, territories, or waters to launch any attacks on Iran.

The semi-official Fars News Agency reported Akbarzadeh stating that Iran continuously monitors data from above and below the surface of the sea in the Strait of Hormuz region. Iran decides which ships and warships may pass under which flags.

Amid rising tensions, the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group has reportedly arrived in the Middle East. Iran has issued a warning that it will respond to any attack.
