iQOO 16 Set to Feature Samsungs Revolutionary 185Hz Display Upgrade

Mumbai, March 30: The rumor mill is buzzing with exciting details about the upcoming iQOO 16, expected to launch in October this year in China. A standout feature of the iQOO 15 is its Samsung M14 OLED panel, boasting a 6.85-inch screen with a 2K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Recent reports indicate that the iQOO 16 will come with an enhanced display, with new insights shared by tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo.

iQOO 16’s Display Features Revealed

According to Smart Pikachu, iQOO may be among the first brands to utilize Samsung’s upcoming 2K display panels, which will support refresh rates of 165Hz and 185Hz. The post hints at a connection to the iQOO 16.

The tipster emphasizes that 165Hz is merely the starting point, as the supply chain is preparing to roll out native 185Hz panels from Samsung. Game ecosystems are already adapting to accommodate these high refresh rates.

This increase in refresh rate positions the iQOO 16 to compete directly with the OnePlus 16, rumored to feature a screen with refresh rates of 200Hz or even 240Hz. While the OnePlus 16 may maintain a 1.5K resolution, the iQOO 16 is likely to retain the 2K resolution of its predecessor.

Another significant upgrade for the iQOO 16 is in its camera capabilities. The same tipster previously revealed that the device may sport a 200-megapixel primary camera alongside a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. Additionally, it is expected to include a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens.

Details regarding the battery size, charging capabilities, and memory configurations remain undisclosed. However, it is anticipated that the iQOO 16 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip. Due to recent increases in memory chip prices, the base variant of the iQOO 16 may start at approximately 5,000 Yuan (~$725), likely featuring a 12GB+256GB configuration.
