
New Delhi, May 5: In the 48th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the Delhi Capitals (DC) set a target of 156 runs against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday.
Winning the toss at Arun Jaitley Stadium, DC opted to bat first, scoring 155 runs while losing 7 wickets in their allotted overs. The opening pair of Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul provided a steady start, accumulating 29 runs in the first four overs.
Nissanka returned to the pavilion after scoring 19 runs off 15 balls, including 4 boundaries, while KL Rahul contributed 12 runs from 13 balls with 2 fours. Following the dismissal of the opening duo, the team faced a collapse, losing 5 wickets for just 69 runs.
From this point, Tristan Stubbs partnered with Sameer Rizvi to forge a crucial sixth-wicket partnership, adding 65 runs off 47 balls. Stubbs scored 38 runs off 31 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 1 four before getting out. Rizvi took charge thereafter, remaining unbeaten with 40 runs off 24 balls, including 4 sixes.
For CSK, Noor Ahmad was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 22 runs in 3 overs. Akil Hossain, Mukesh Choudhary, Gurjapneet Singh, and Jamie Overton each claimed 1 wicket.
Under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK is fielding a lineup that includes Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Urvil Patel, Kartik Sharma, Dewald Brevis, Jamie Overton, Akil Hossain, Noor Ahmad, Anshul Kamboj, Mukesh Choudhary, and Gurjapneet Singh.
On the other hand, the Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, feature KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Pathum Nissanka, Karun Nair, Tristan Stubbs, Nitish Rana, Ashutosh Sharma, Lungi Ngidi, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, and T Natarajan.
