iPhone 18 Pro Max Dummy Reveals Exciting Camera Enhancements

Mumbai, April 26: Apple typically avoids major design overhauls each year, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max appears to follow this trend. At first glance, it seems familiar, but subtle changes beneath the surface could lead to noticeable improvements.

A new hands-on video featuring metal dummy units of the iPhone 18 Pro Max has emerged online, providing a clearer preview of what to expect. The source has a solid track record; their early insights into the iPhone 17 lineup last year were quite accurate, making this leak worth noting.

One of the most apparent modifications is the Dynamic Island. According to the dummy, it has shrunk by approximately 25%, reducing its size from just over 20mm to around 15mm. While this may disappoint those hoping for a hole-punch cutout, such a feature is likely reserved for the 20th anniversary iPhone.

The camera setup is where things become particularly intriguing. The total thickness, including the camera plateau, now measures about 11.54mm, an increase from 11.23mm on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. With the lenses included, this figure reportedly rises to 13.77mm, compared to 12.92mm previously.

This additional space suggests that Apple may be working with larger sensors or potentially reinstating optical zoom to 5x after reducing it to 4x last year, or perhaps a combination of both. Regardless, the dummy indicates significant changes in the camera hardware.

Over the years, Apple has gradually transitioned to larger sensors, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max already utilizing a 1/1.28″ main sensor, comparable to the Vivo X200 Ultra. Based on these dummy units, the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s camera system could be worth a closer examination.

In terms of dimensions, the phone is reported to be slightly taller and wider than the current model, with a minor increase in thickness as well. This could be attributed to a larger battery, although nothing has been confirmed yet.

The iPhone 18 Pro lineup is anticipated to launch later this year, likely alongside Apple’s first foldable iPhone, rumored to be named the Ultra. The remainder of the lineup is expected to follow in early 2027.
