Inter-State Vehicle Thieves Arrested in Noida; 12 Bikes and Cars Recovered

Noida, August 21: The Sector 39 police in Noida have uncovered an inter-state vehicle theft gang, arresting four suspects in the process. Authorities seized 12 stolen motorcycles, a WagonR car used in the crimes, and two illegal knives from the accused. The estimated value of the recovered motorcycles exceeds ₹1 million.

According to police reports, the suspects would scout various areas in Noida and the NCR while working as online cab drivers. They targeted motorcycles parked along the roadside, stealing them when the opportunity arose. On August 21, 2026, the Sector 39 police team apprehended the four suspects behind the Godrej building on the road leading to Stellar Green Park. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ravi Pratap, Vimal Shakya alias Surya, Prashant Singh, and Deepanshu.

Police stated that the gang members traveled in a WagonR car, identifying motorcycles parked on the streets before stealing them. During interrogation, the suspects revealed that instead of selling the stolen motorcycles immediately, they hid them in bushes or deserted locations. They later sold these bikes at low prices, often fabricating stories to convince buyers.

The suspects have been linked to vehicle thefts not only in Noida but also in Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh. The police recovered motorcycles stolen from various states and districts, including models like TVS, Splendor, TVS Rider, TVS Sports, and TVS Apache. The recovered vehicles bore registration numbers from Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Among the stolen bikes, one TVS motorcycle was reported stolen from Ashok Nagar in Delhi, a Splendor from Sector 36 in Chandigarh, another Splendor from Lodhi Nagar in Delhi, and an Apache from Sector 39 in Noida. Additionally, motorcycles stolen from Gurugram, Badarpur in Delhi, and other locations were also found. The investigation revealed that each of the four arrested suspects has seven cases registered against them in various police stations, including vehicle theft cases in Noida, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Gurugram.

The police are now working to gather information about the suspects’ criminal network and those who purchased the stolen vehicles. The ages of the arrested individuals are 26 for Ravi Pratap, 23 for Vimal Shakya alias Surya, 21 for Prashant Singh, and 23 for Deepanshu. All four are originally from Mainpuri district and were renting accommodations in different areas of Gautam Buddh Nagar.

A case has been registered against the suspects at Sector 39 police station. Based on the recoveries and interrogations, the police are continuing their investigation to identify other individuals connected to the gang and those involved in the buying and selling of stolen vehicles.
