New Delhi, 18 December: After facing a major operational crisis that led to thousands of flight cancellations and caused inconvenience to passengers, Indigo CEO Peter Elbers has conveyed a message appreciating the resilience of his employees during this difficult period.
In a video message, Elbers said, “The worst is behind us. As Indigo employees, we stood united and strong, supporting each other unwaveringly through this challenging time. I thank all our pilots, cabin crew, airport staff, customer service teams, and all departments involved for their cooperation.”
Elbers announced that the airline resumed 2,200 flights on Thursday. He acknowledged that the past two weeks had been “quite challenging.” He emphasised the need to focus on three key areas now: resilience, identifying root causes, and rebuilding. The airline’s priority is to strengthen operational processes to maintain stability during adverse weather and future challenges.
He further explained that the issues appeared to be due to a combination of factors. To investigate thoroughly, an external aviation expert has been appointed to examine the matter in detail and reach the root cause.
The CEO also said he will personally travel across the airline’s network to meet employees and understand their experiences. He believes that analysing the root causes along with employee feedback will help Indigo improve further.
Elbers stressed, “These three days (3-5 December 2025) will not define what we have achieved over the past 19 years.” He highlighted that Indigo has served over 850 million passengers with a workforce of 65,000 employees and has connected even the most remote parts of the country without compromising safety records.
He added, “Indigo will continue to serve passengers with the values on which the company was built – reliability, accessibility, discipline, and a customer-centric approach. Recovering from this difficult phase, Indigo will spread its wings and move forward.”
