Delhi Police Denies Permission for Protest at Central Park on October 16
Delhi Police has denied permission for a protest at Central Park on October 16, citing security concerns and existing prohibitory orders.

New Delhi, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : The Delhi Police have officially denied permission for a planned protest at Central Park in Connaught Place on October 16. Deputy Commissioner of Police Neha Yadav stated that, due to security and law-and-order concerns, prohibitory orders are already in effect in the area. She urged the public not to participate in any unlawful gatherings.
Yadav noted that the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) has called on the public through social media and press conferences to gather at Central Park at 5 PM on October 16, encouraging attendees to bring national flags. The Aam Aadmi Party has also appealed to its supporters and the general public to join the demonstration in large numbers.
In light of the current security situation, Yadav emphasized the need to maintain peace and protect both public and private property. Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Indian Penal Code have been implemented in Connaught Place and its surrounding areas.
Additionally, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has informed the police that Central Park will remain closed on October 16 and 17 for administrative reasons. The NDMC has requested that the police ensure appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorized access to this sensitive public space.
Many business and market associations in Connaught Place have voiced concerns over potential disruptions caused by the protest. They have requested increased security to protect their establishments, especially during the ongoing festive season.
The Delhi Police have reiterated their appeal to protesters and the public to refrain from participating in any gatherings that violate the prohibitory orders. Legal action will be taken against those who disregard these directives.
The police have stated that they are considering allowing a small group of individuals to gather at a designated location to hoist the national flag and sing the national anthem, provided they do so peacefully.
This clarification from the police follows the CJP and Aam Aadmi Party’s call for citizens to participate in a peaceful demonstration with the national flag.
