Indian Team to be Led by Gurinderveer and Animesh at Asian Relay Championship

New Delhi, June 3: The Indian team will be led by national record holder Gurinderveer Singh in the men’s 100 meters at the second Asian Relay Championship. The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) announced a 29-member squad for the championship, which will take place in Shangyu, China, on June 20 and 21.

The third edition of the Asian Relay Championship is set to be hosted in Chandigarh. Recently, India was granted the rights to host this continental event during a meeting of the Asian Athletics Association council in Hong Kong.

AFI President Bahadur Singh stated, “The Indian team will participate in all six relay events in China. This competition offers athletes an excellent opportunity to showcase their abilities at the continental level. It will also allow sports enthusiasts to watch top athletes compete on their home soil.”

The competition in China will feature men’s 4×100 meters and 4×400 meters relays, as well as women’s 4×100 meters and 4×400 meters relays. Additionally, the Indian team will compete in mixed 4×100 meters and 4×400 meters relays.

Gurinderveer Singh set a new national record by completing the 100 meters in just 10.09 seconds at the 29th National Senior Athletics Federation Cup held in Ranchi.

Indian Team for Asian Relay 2026:
Men (4×400 meters and mixed 4×400 meters relays): Teerthesh P. Shetty, Avinash Kumar, Setu Mishra, Nihal William, S. Santosh, Rins Joseph, Suraj Alagar Raja, Mohit Kumar, Barath Sridhar.
Men (4×100 meters and mixed 4×100 meters relays): Animesh Kujur, Gurinderveer Singh, Harsh Santosh Raut, Pranav Pramod Gaurav, Ragul Kumar Ganesh Kumar, Senthil Kumar Tamilarasu.
Women (4×400 meters and mixed 4×400 meters relays): Rashdeep Kaur, Poovamma M.R., Ansa Babu, Vijayakumari G.K., Saloni Nagar, Neeru Pathak, Subha V., Gaurinandana.
Women (4×100 meters and mixed 4×100 meters relays): Nitya Gandhe, Tamanna, Sneha S.S., Sudeshna Shivankar.
