New Delhi, October 27 (Daily Kiran) : Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein expressed his honor at visiting India during a state visit on Tuesday. He emphasized his commitment to enhancing the ties between his European nation and New Delhi.
The prince received a formal welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted him warmly. Speaking to reporters, Prince Alois expressed gratitude for the invitation and the warm reception he received from both leaders. “I feel truly honored to be here for Liechtenstein’s first state visit to this wonderful country,” he stated.
He highlighted that this historic trip signifies the importance Liechtenstein places on its relationship with India. Referring to the completion of the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which came into effect a year ago, he called it a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations. “We are committed to maintaining this momentum and further solidifying our ties with India,” he added.
Prince Alois noted vast opportunities for enhancing economic cooperation, particularly in sectors such as innovation, advanced manufacturing, financial services, education, and technology. “In these and many other areas, both countries have complementary strengths that we can leverage for mutual long-term benefits,” he remarked.
The prince arrived in the national capital from Vadodara, Gujarat, where he was welcomed by Minister of State Jayant Singh at the airport. The Ministry of External Affairs stated in a post on X that this visit marks a new chapter in India-Liechtenstein relations, following the prince’s tour of Vadodara.
Invited by Prime Minister Modi, the prince’s state visit began in Mumbai. He is accompanied by his wife, Princess Sofia, and a high-level official and business delegation. This marks Prince Alois’s second visit to India in 2026; he previously attended the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi in February. He has visited India before, in 2010 and 2018.
