New Delhi, April 8: The Indian Navy showcased its prowess with a spectacular marching parade in France. The Indian marching contingent participated in the Heritage City Parade, held in the historic streets of Sète to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the French Navy.
The naval team marched proudly through the city, waving the tricolor, earning admiration from the gathered crowd. The Indian sailing training ship INS Sudarshini arrived in France to take part in a major maritime festival at the Sète port. This biennial event is one of the largest maritime gatherings in the Mediterranean, bringing together ships and naval personnel from around the world.
INS Sudarshini not only made a formal appearance but also actively engaged in various activities. The crew participated in cultural programs, training workshops, and sports competitions alongside sailors from different countries, fostering mutual understanding and camaraderie.
A highlight of the event was when the Indian Navy’s marching contingent joined the Heritage City Parade. The sailors, carrying the tricolor, performed a remarkable march through the streets of Sète, drawing applause from the audience. According to the Navy, the Sudarshini team also excelled in the sports competition, winning a bronze medal in rowing, a proud achievement for India. The Navy reported that while docked at Sète, the ship was opened to the public. Additionally, a special yoga session was organized, where Indian, French, and Italian sailors practiced together, promoting fitness, unity, and mental balance.

The ambassador spoke about the friendship between India and France, emphasizing strong maritime cooperation and shared security efforts.
He noted that both nations are collaborating to ensure security at sea, protect trade routes, and uphold international regulations. The Navy stated that INS Sudarshini has now set sail for its next destination, Casablanca. This journey is part of the Lokayan 26 mission, aimed at strengthening India’s relationships with various countries.
