Nagoya, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian men’s badminton team kicked off their campaign at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya with an impressive 3-0 victory over Bangladesh. Players Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, and Kidambi Srikanth showcased their skills, leading India to a decisive win.
Lakshya Sen set the tone for the match, delivering a powerful performance against Bangladesh’s Ayman Ibn Jaman. He dominated the first game, winning 21-4 with a series of strong shots. Sen maintained his momentum in the second game, securing a 21-12 victory and giving India an early 1-0 lead.
In the second match, Ayush Shetty, fresh off a successful run at the BWF World Championships, continued the team’s strong performance. He faced Gaurav Singha of Bangladesh and quickly established control, winning the first game 21-4. Shetty kept up his dominance in the second game, finishing it 21-13 and extending India’s lead to 2-0.
The final match featured Kidambi Srikanth, who faced Jumar Al-Amin. While Srikanth had to work hard for his first game win, he ultimately took it 21-15. In the second game, he left no room for a comeback, winning decisively at 21-10 and sealing the match for India.
With this victory, the Indian men’s badminton team has secured their place in the quarter-finals, where they will face Japan on Tuesday. A win in that match would guarantee them a medal at the tournament.
