Indian Embassy Advises Citizens on Jordans Open Airspace Amid Regional Tensions

New Delhi, March 19: In light of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Indian Embassy has issued an advisory for Indian citizens and visitors residing in Jordan. The advisory confirms that Jordan’s airspace is open, allowing citizens to leave the country if they choose.

The embassy reiterated its previous advisory, urging all Indian nationals and visitors in Jordan to remain vigilant, exercise extreme caution, and adhere to the guidelines and security advice issued by local authorities.

With commercial flights operating, Indian citizens, including visitors wishing to depart Jordan, are encouraged to utilize their options. More information can be obtained from relevant airlines or travel agents, as well as the Queen Alia International Airport’s website in Amman.

All Indian nationals and visitors are also advised to stay updated through local media and follow the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, as well as news outlets. They should avoid approaching any suspicious or unknown objects and report any such items to the authorities by calling emergency number 911.

According to guidelines from Jordan’s National Center for Security and Crisis Management, individuals should remain where they are when sirens sound and not exit their homes until an ‘all clear’ signal is given. If in a vehicle, they should pull over to the roadside and stay inside. If outside, they should seek shelter in the nearest building. If no building is available, they should lie down on the ground, cover their heads with their hands, and stay as far away from open areas as possible. To avoid the risk of power outages, using elevators is not recommended. If at home, individuals should stay away from windows to protect themselves from debris.

The Indian government prioritizes the safety and welfare of its citizens abroad. The embassy is in continuous contact with relevant Jordanian authorities and members of the Indian community. In case of emergencies, Indian citizens and visitors can reach the embassy at the emergency numbers +962-770 422 276 and +962-786 440 990.

The Indian Embassy in Amman also expressed gratitude to the relevant authorities of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for their cooperation and invaluable assistance during these challenging times.
