Indian Citizen Dies in Riyadh Amid Ongoing Conflict in the Region

New Delhi, March 20: An Indian citizen has tragically died in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as the conflict between the United States-Israel and Iran continues. This marks the 21st day of the ongoing war.

The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia confirmed the news of the citizen’s death in an official statement. They expressed deep condolences on behalf of the Indian government and the embassy.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the embassy stated, “The Indian Embassy expresses its heartfelt condolences on the tragic demise of an Indian citizen in recent events in Riyadh on March 18. The embassy is in contact with the deceased’s family and local authorities. We are committed to providing all possible assistance in this matter.”

Sources indicate that Iran has been persistently targeting neighboring countries that support the U.S.-Israel alliance in this conflict. Saudi Arabia has also faced continuous attacks from Iran.

Earlier, during a meeting in Riyadh, foreign ministers from 12 Islamic nations issued a joint statement urging Iran to cease its attacks immediately and respect international law.

This statement was released by ministers from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

The ministers condemned the attacks on Gulf countries, including Jordan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. They noted that Iran has targeted residential areas, civilian infrastructure, including oil facilities, desalination plants, airports, residential buildings, and diplomatic sites.

Meanwhile, according to Xinhua news agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi recently claimed that the U.S. and Israel are attacking Arab countries from certain locations in West Asia. Araghchi stated that Iran is ready to form a joint committee with regional countries to discuss the nature of the attacks’ targets.

He also alleged that the U.S. has developed a drone named “Lucas,” similar to Iran’s Shahed 136 drone, intended for targeting in Arab countries.

Araghchi asserted that Iran’s attacks focus solely on U.S. bases and interests, retaliating against assaults initiated from these sites.
