Glasgow, July 29: The Commonwealth Games 2026 continue to showcase the impressive performances of Indian boxers. Jadumani Singh has secured another medal for India by winning his quarter-final match. He expressed his ambition to clinch the gold medal.
Jadumani delivered an outstanding performance in the 55-kilogram category, decisively defeating Zambia’s Mwengo Mwale with a score of 5-0. He landed punch after punch, leaving his opponent with no chance to retaliate. This victory not only secured him a spot in the semi-finals but also guaranteed at least a bronze medal for India.
After his quarter-final win, Jadumani shared in an exclusive interview, “This is my first Commonwealth Games, and I am thrilled to win a medal. My opponent was a strong boxer with good power and delivered heavy punches; therefore, I watched his videos all day to understand how to approach the match. I discussed strategies with my coaches on how to compete against him, and our analysis proved successful in this bout.”
He further stated, “When I came to participate in the Commonwealth Games 2026, I was determined to not just win a medal but to bring home the gold. I will dedicate this medal to my uncle, the Boxing Federation of India, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), my country, and my coaches.”
On the sixth day of the Commonwealth Games 2026, India has secured three medals in boxing. Alongside Jadumani, Preeti Pawar and Priya Ghanghas have also reached the semi-finals, ensuring at least bronze medals for the nation. Preeti defeated Ireland’s Nicole Clyde 5-0, while Priya triumphed over Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell with a score of 4-1.
