Indian Athletes Gear Up for Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya

New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : The Asian Games 2026 are set to take place in Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. Indian athletes are diligently preparing for this prestigious event, eager to deliver memorable performances and secure medals for their country.

To evaluate the readiness of athletes participating in track and field events, the Indian Athletics Champions Final Series 2026 was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Friday. This competition not only provided a valuable practice platform for those heading to the Asian Games but also boosted the confidence of talented athletes from across the nation.

Avinash Sable, a steeplechase runner, expressed his readiness in an exclusive interview, stating, “We are fully prepared for the Asian Games. I am returning from an injury, and this was my first race after recovery. Training has been good, and our confidence is high. I hope we will perform better than before at the Asian Games 2026.”

He added, “With only a few days left until the Asian Games, this competition was organized to assess our preparation. Coming here has boosted our confidence.”

Sable secured first place in the event. He previously won a gold medal in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase at the 2023 Asian Games.

Another athlete shared their excitement, saying, “I am fully prepared for the Asian Games and thrilled about it. I enjoy performing in front of an audience and can’t wait for the event. My coach encouraged me to run without worrying about the time in this competition.”

They also urged all athletes, regardless of their discipline, to work hard and strive for medals for their states and country.
