New Delhi, March 22: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Indian Army have joined forces to enhance the professional capabilities of CISF personnel in drone operations.
A training session was conducted at the Army War College in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, specifically for CISF personnel from the ASG Indore. This session covered key aspects of drone operations, flight safety regulations, and surveillance protocols, aimed at strengthening operational readiness and technical efficiency.
According to a CISF statement, the training organized with the support of the Indian Army reflects its ongoing commitment to capacity building, skill enhancement, and the integration of modern technologies for effective security operations.
In light of the increasing threats of drone and cyber attacks on critical installations, which have emerged as new security challenges, the CISF has developed plans to counter these threats.
As part of this strategy, the CISF has initiated extensive drone and anti-drone training programs. It has established a drone training and anti-drone capability training center at its unit in Behror, Rajasthan.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has already approved the establishment of a Remote Pilot Training Organization to provide training on drone operations and anti-drone systems.
Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah provided insights into the role of the CISF in the country’s security framework. During the 57th Raising Day celebrations of the CISF on March 6, he stated that the force would also be responsible for managing aerial threats at critical sites, including airports, ports, and industrial centers, in addition to its existing responsibilities.
The CISF is currently providing security at 70 airports and 361 other vital institutions across the country. It has taken charge of securing several major projects, including the Duty Free Shop, Service Tirth, Noida International Airport, Navi Mumbai Airport, Lengpui Airport, the Jawaharpur Thermal Power Project, and the Bhakra Dam project.
