New Delhi, 8 December (Daily Kiran) – India has sought assurance from Chinese authorities that Indian citizens will not be targeted, stopped arbitrarily, or harassed during their travel. This statement comes in response to an incident involving a female passenger from Arunachal Pradesh who was reportedly stopped.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randeep Jawaswal said that India expects Chinese authorities to ensure that no Indian citizen passing through Chinese airports, including Shanghai, is singled out or subjected to unnecessary delays or harassment. He added that China should adhere to international regulations governing air travel.
The spokesperson also advised Indian citizens to exercise appropriate caution while traveling to or through China.
Reiterating India’s firm stance, the MEA spokesperson emphasized that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India and that the country does not seek any interference in this regard. He further noted that India-China relations are gradually moving in a positive direction, and New Delhi wants to continue progressing in that path.
