Uttarakhand Chief Minister Discusses High Court Relocation with Union Minister in New Delhi
Chief Minister Dhami meets Union Minister to discuss relocating Uttarakhand High Court to Haldwani and related land transfer.

New Delhi, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with Union Minister Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi on November 3 to discuss the relocation of the Uttarakhand High Court from Nainital to Haldwani. The discussion focused on the transfer of reserved forest land and the diversion of forest land for the construction of a permanent court complex in the Lamachaur area of Haldwani.
Minister Yadav assured the Chief Minister of positive and prompt action regarding the proposal. Dhami explained that the current High Court premises in Nainital face challenges due to landslide risks, increasing traffic, and the constant influx of tourists and litigants. As a major tourist destination, Nainital struggles with access and parking issues, which affect court operations.
Given these circumstances, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for modern judicial infrastructure to meet future demands. He noted that the proposed site in Lamachaur is well-connected by roads and national highways. Establishing a permanent court complex there would provide essential facilities for judicial work, benefiting judges, lawyers, litigants, and the general public.
The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening and modernizing judicial systems in the region. He mentioned ongoing coordination with the central government and relevant departments to expedite necessary processes for the court’s construction. Dhami also highlighted the Supreme Court’s directive, which mandates the timely availability and transfer of land for the new High Court building.
He urged the Union Minister to expedite the necessary actions regarding the transfer and diversion of reserved forest land in Lamachaur. The Chief Minister believes that a modern and permanent High Court complex will significantly enhance the state’s judicial infrastructure, making legal services more accessible and efficient.
Minister Yadav once again assured the Chief Minister of his support and prompt action on the proposal.
