New Delhi, February 23: India has strongly condemned the airstrikes conducted by the Pakistani military in Afghanistan on Sunday morning, labeling them as irresponsible actions. In a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs, official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed India’s disapproval of Pakistan‘s airstrikes on Afghan territories during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Pakistani military targeted alleged terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of 17 individuals, including women and children, with six others reported missing. Responding to media inquiries regarding the airstrikes, Jaiswal reiterated India’s condemnation, emphasizing that such actions during Ramadan are unacceptable. He noted that the loss of life in these attacks reflects Pakistan’s attempts to project its internal failures outward. India reaffirms its support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and freedom.
Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have escalated once again following these attacks. According to the Afghan government, numerous people have been killed or injured due to the bombings. Afghan government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid posted on social media, stating, “Last night, they bombed our civilians in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces, resulting in the deaths and injuries of dozens, including women and children.”
Confirming the attacks, Pakistan’s Information Minister Ataullah Tarar stated on X that Pakistan targeted seven terrorist camps and hideouts of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its associates based on intelligence in the border area.
