October 17 Panchang: Worship of Maa Kalratri to Remove Obstacles as Sun Transits Libra

On October 17, worship Maa Kalratri and learn about significant astrological events influencing your day.

New Delhi, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Hinduism places great importance on the Panchang, a calendar that guides auspicious activities, travel, investments, and rituals based on celestial positions.

On October 17, 2026, the Saptami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashwin begins at 5:54 AM and lasts until 8:28 AM the following day, when the Ashtami Tithi will commence. Sunrise will occur at 6:28 AM, and sunset will be at 5:56 PM. The Chandroday will take place at 12:13 PM, while Chandra will set at 10:55 PM.

This day marks the seventh day of Sharadiya Navratri, dedicated to the worship of Maa Kalratri, considered the seventh power of Goddess Durga and her most formidable form. Special prayers to Maa Kalratri are believed to dispel negative energies, including ghosts and obstacles.

According to the Panchang, the Sun will be positioned in the Chitra Nakshatra. Astrologically, the Sun’s presence in this Nakshatra brings profound effects. The ruling planet of Chitra is Mars, regarded as a friend of the Sun. The conjunction of the Sun and Mars enhances self-confidence, courage, and energy, leading to recognition from superiors for those in employment. Individuals in administration or management may receive new responsibilities or promotions.

At 11:02 PM on Saturday, the Atigand Yoga will prevail. This yoga is considered challenging and inauspicious, particularly for newborns, necessitating peace rituals. It is advised against commencing any auspicious work during this period.

The Abhijit Muhurat, regarded as the most favorable time, will occur from 11:49 AM to 12:35 PM. Activities undertaken during this period are believed to negate any malefic effects.

The Amritkal will be observed from 2:34 AM to 4:22 AM, a highly auspicious time for starting new ventures, investments, and important journeys.

However, Rahukal will take place from 9:20 AM to 10:46 AM, a period deemed unfavorable for initiating new tasks. It is calculated by dividing the time between sunrise and sunset into eight parts.

Yamgand Kal, linked to Yama, the god of death, will occur from 1:38 PM to 3:04 PM, making it an inauspicious time for new endeavors. It is advisable to avoid travel and financial transactions during this period.

Gulik Kal, also known as ‘poisonous time,’ will be from 6:28 AM to 7:54 AM. New ventures should be avoided, but ongoing tasks may continue.

On this day, the Sun will transition from Virgo to Libra. This shift is significant as the Sun is considered weak in Libra, potentially affecting self-confidence and decision-making. The presence of Mercury and Venus in Libra creates a combination that influences various zodiac signs and financial matters.

The Moon will be in Scorpio until approximately 6:47 AM before moving into Sagittarius. This placement is associated with positive energy and hope, enabling individuals to navigate challenges effectively.

On Saturday, the directional obstacle (Disha Shool) will be in the east, an unfavorable direction for travel according to astrology and Vastu Shastra.
