India Aims to Maintain Dominance Against New Zealand in Upcoming T20 Series
As India prepares for the T20 series against New Zealand, they seek to extend their unbeaten streak since 2019 on Kiwi soil.

New Delhi, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : The highly anticipated T20 International series between India and New Zealand is set to kick off on Thursday, October 22. This series comes on the heels of India’s last encounter with New Zealand during the T20 World Cup 2026, where they celebrated a thrilling victory in the final.
In total, India and New Zealand have faced off in 31 T20 matches, with India winning 19 of those contests. New Zealand has claimed victory in 11 matches, while one ended in a tie. Notably, India has played 12 T20 matches on New Zealand soil, securing five wins and suffering four losses. Impressively, India has not lost a T20 match in New Zealand since 2019.
The last defeat came on February 10, 2019, in Hamilton, where New Zealand triumphed by just four runs in a closely contested match. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, India will look to uphold their strong record in this upcoming series. They recently concluded a five-match T20 series against the West Indies, ending in a 2-2 draw before heading to New Zealand.
While India’s batsmen shone against the West Indies, their bowlers faced challenges on home turf. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is making a comeback to the squad after four years, eager to showcase his skills on the fast-friendly pitches of New Zealand. Meanwhile, the fitness of Arshdeep Singh remains uncertain after he missed the fifth T20 against the West Indies due to injury. His full recovery is crucial for India’s prospects in this series.
