Hyderabad Heroes Triumph Over Chennai Bulls, Set for Final Showdown with Mumbai Dreamers

Hyderabad, June 28: In an exhilarating semifinal match of the Rugby Premier League Season 2, the Hyderabad Heroes defeated the Chennai Bulls 29-24 at Gachibowli Stadium on Saturday. They are now set to face the Mumbai Dreamers in the finals on Sunday.

The Heroes made a strong start, quickly moving the ball across the field. In the very first minute, Tai Taifono Tuvita scored a try. Chennai responded with vigor, as Marika Koroiwate led the Bulls to take the lead with a powerful attack.

However, Hyderabad continued to exploit the width of the field. Tuvita sprinted down the left wing to score his second try, while Morris Longbottom’s impressive run created an opportunity for Raumaama Seruvakula to extend the lead.

Hyderabad refused to back down. Captain Manuel Moreno spearheaded a comeback, narrowing the gap to just two points. The Heroes displayed remarkable composure in the final moments, patiently retaining possession until Sambit Pradhan had the chance to score the decisive try. Diego Ardao maintained excellent control of the ball, securing the victory after a tough contest.

After the semifinal win, Hyderabad Heroes captain Manuel Moreno expressed his excitement, stating, “It feels great to overcome last year’s hurdle. Our coach DJ Forbes and the entire team deserve credit for playing the rugby we set out to play from day one. We will give our all as a team tomorrow.”

Head coach DJ Forbes added, “We faced a tough challenge in the semifinal, so I expect the boys to be well-prepared for every challenge tomorrow. We certainly created difficulties for ourselves, but if we can correct some mistakes, we have a chance to win. Anything can happen, as seen in both semifinals. There isn’t much difference between the teams, but when we focus on the basics and minimize errors, we can play excellent sevens rugby. I’m excited for the boys, and they deserve to be in the finals.”
