How Long Should You Wait to Eat or Bathe After Yoga? Insights from the AYUSH Ministry

New Delhi, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Practicing yoga has become increasingly popular as people seek to maintain their fitness and well-being. Engaging in yoga each morning not only helps keep the body active but also reduces mental stress and fatigue. However, many individuals often rush back to their daily routines immediately after their practice. In response, the AYUSH Ministry has recommended allowing the body some time to relax and recover before bathing or eating.

In a recent social media post on platform X, the AYUSH Ministry emphasized the importance of resting for 20 to 30 minutes post-yoga. This interval allows the body to return to its normal state. During this time, individuals should remain calm and let their bodies ease into a relaxed state. This practice creates a beneficial gap before resuming daily activities.

Yoga activates the body’s muscles and alters breathing patterns. Therefore, taking a moment to rest after practice is considered beneficial. Instead of hurrying, practitioners should sit quietly, breathe normally, and allow their bodies to relax.

The AYUSH Ministry also shared essential dietary tips for yoga practitioners. A balanced and nutritious diet is crucial for preparing the body and mind for yoga. It is generally advised that those who practice yoga prioritize vegetarian meals. For healthy individuals over the age of 30, eating twice a day may be sufficient. However, those suffering from illnesses or engaging in strenuous physical activities may have different dietary needs.

Yoga is not merely a physical exercise; it is an effective means of creating balance between the body and mind. Numerous studies have shown that yoga is beneficial for physical fitness, muscle and bone function, and heart health. Regular practice can also assist in managing diabetes, high blood pressure, respiratory issues, and lifestyle-related problems.

Additionally, yoga can alleviate symptoms of stress, anxiety, fatigue, and depression. It is also considered helpful for women dealing with issues related to menstruation and menopause.
