Patna, July 30 — The Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar has taken a significant step toward strengthening public healthcare services in rural areas. On Wednesday morning, the Chief Minister announced an increase in the honorarium of ASHA workers from ₹1,000 to ₹3,000.

Sharing the announcement via an X post, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated that ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers will now receive ₹3,000 as incentive instead of the earlier ₹1,000. Additionally, Mamta workers will receive ₹600 per delivery as incentive, up from the previous amount of ₹300. According to the Chief Minister, this move will further boost the morale of these frontline workers and enhance healthcare services in rural areas.
Recognition of critical contributions
Highlighting the government’s consistent efforts to improve healthcare since November 2005, the Chief Minister said that ASHA and Mamta workers have played a vital role in strengthening health services in villages. Recognising their contribution, the government has decided to increase their honorarium as a mark of respect and appreciation.
