Jhansi, Aug 11 (H.S.) – In a shocking case of honour killing in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, police investigations have revealed that a young woman’s brother, along with his associates, first killed her lover and later murdered her after making her tie him a Rakhi. The accused lured the man to his death on the pretext of offering him a job, and a day later, took his sister out under the guise of buying medicine and killed her.

Three days earlier, the body of a young man was found on a riverbank in Lahchura police station limits. On Sunday, the body of his girlfriend was discovered on a hill in the Garautha police station area. Following the recovery of both bodies, police detained the suspects, leading to the breakthrough.

According to reports, the 18-year-old victim, Puttto, was found dead on a hill in Chandpura village under Garautha police station. Villagers informed police after spotting the body. A police and forensic team examined the scene, and initial findings indicated that her head had been shaved before the murder. Two days earlier, the body of a young man named Vishal from Patharai village in Tahrauli police station area had been found covered in blood near a river in Gudha village under Lahchura police station limits.

Locals said the man and woman were in a relationship, which their families had discovered earlier. They had previously run away from home and were recovered by Garautha police. Vishal’s father alleged that police had taken ₹45,000 in February to settle the matter. Residents believe the murders were the result of family resentment and personal enmity.

Vishal’s father lodged a complaint against Chandpura residents Arvind alias Gulle and Prakash Prajapati, accusing them of taking his son to Delhi on the pretext of a job and killing him. Lahchura police registered a case against the two. On Sunday, the girl’s father also filed a complaint accusing his son Arvind, Prakash Prajapati, and their associates of killing his daughter. When police questioned the detained suspects, the honour killing motive was confirmed. Main accused Arvind alias Gulle was taken into custody late at night.

Speaking on the case, Rural Superintendent of Police Dr Arvind Kumar said that both bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Evidence has been collected from the crime scene, and police teams have been formed for investigation. He added that the case appears to be one of honour killing, and further details will emerge after interrogation.
