Supreme Court Halts Bhopal Hearing in Twisha Sharma Death Case, Issues Notices to CBI and Accused

The Supreme Court has paused the Bhopal hearing in Twisha Sharmas death case, seeking responses from the CBI and the accused.

Bhopal, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : The Supreme Court has taken a significant step in the suspicious death case of former model and actress Twisha Sharma. On October 16, the court responded to a petition filed by Twisha’s father, requesting the transfer of the case from Bhopal to Delhi. The court has issued notices to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Giribala Singh, and Samarth Singh, asking for their responses. Additionally, the Supreme Court has placed an interim stay on the ongoing proceedings in the Bhopal lower court.

Twisha’s father approached the Supreme Court, arguing for a hearing in Delhi rather than Bhopal. The court has called for replies from the involved parties while suspending the lower court’s proceedings.

The case gained traction when Twisha’s family raised questions about her death and demanded a thorough investigation. Twisha was a former model and actress who had also worked in Telugu films. After her modeling career, she pursued an MBA and transitioned into the corporate sector. She met Samarth Singh through a matrimonial site, and the couple married in December 2025. Tragically, Twisha was found dead on May 12 at her in-laws’ home in Bhopal.

Following her death, her family accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and severe mental torture. Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, claimed that Samarth’s behavior was concerning even before their marriage, with reports of mistreatment during their honeymoon. He also alleged that her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, who is a former judge, had harassed Twisha for dowry.

The post-mortem report confirmed injuries to Twisha’s head, ears, and hands, indicating they occurred before her death. Both her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh were arrested in connection with the case. In her bail application, Giribala accused Twisha of having a drug addiction, claiming her behavior became erratic without access to drugs.

Twisha’s brother, Harshit Sharma, revealed that she had been feeling distressed and had expressed a desire to return to Noida, highlighting her emotional turmoil before her tragic death.
