Mumbai, March 7: The T20 World Cup semifinal held at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday has made history. This match between India and England became the most streamed event in T20 history, garnering an astonishing 619 million views. This figure surpassed the previous record of 533 million views set during the T20 World Cup 2024 final between India and South Africa.

In this high-stakes match, Team India batted first, scoring 253 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. In response, England managed to score only 246 runs, also losing 7 wickets.

India’s leading streaming platform, JioHotstar, recorded a peak of 65.2 million concurrent viewers during the match, establishing a new world record for live events on any digital platform. This peak concurrency surpassed the previous global record of 65 million set by an international streaming service in November 2024. Notably, JioHotstar’s record was achieved entirely within a single market.

The semifinal reached over 320 million viewers across television and digital platforms, with total watch time exceeding 23 billion minutes, making it the most-watched T20 match to date.

Commenting on the record streaming figures, ICC Chairman Jay Shah expressed his delight at seeing millions of cricket fans come together for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India.
