
Mathura, June 17: The 16th meeting of the High-Powered Management Committee for Thakur Shri Banke Bihari Ji Temple took place at the Lakshman Shaheed Memorial Hall in Vrindavan, chaired by Honorable Justice (Retd.) Ashok Kumar of the Allahabad High Court. The meeting covered several crucial topics, including the repair of the temple’s gold and silver swings, throne, and stairs, as well as security arrangements, cleanliness, traffic management, and the removal of encroachments.
The first agenda item discussed was a report presented by Shyam Sundar Beriwal. This report reviewed the progress of repairs to the gold and silver swings, throne, and stairs, which are being carried out by skilled artisans.
The second agenda focused on the evaluation of yellow and white metals stored in safes, lockers, and boxes, and the proposal to shift them to a larger locker.
The third agenda involved discussions on tenders received for maintaining cleanliness in the temple premises, leading to the selection of an appropriate bidder. The fourth agenda considered a tender for the service and worship of Shri Nidhivanraj for a one-year period, from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027.
The fifth agenda included detailed discussions on recommendations from a structural survey conducted by archaeologists from Agra, specifically regarding point number seven.
The sixth agenda reviewed the current status of a pending revenue case concerning 15.710 hectares of land registered in the temple’s name in Kishanpura village, Kota district, Rajasthan. The seventh point addressed the report on the transfer of police personnel, sub-inspectors, and inspectors who have served for over five years in the temple premises.
The eighth agenda reviewed the progress made by the Regional Transport Officer of Agra and the Assistant Regional Transport Officer of Mathura in improving traffic management in Vrindavan. The ninth point assessed the actions taken by four teams formed under the leadership of the Municipal Magistrate of Mathura to remove encroachments in the lanes surrounding the temple. The tenth point involved a report on the sampling and enforcement progress regarding food items in shops near the temple, presented by the Assistant Food Commissioner of Mathura.
Chairman Justice Ashok Kumar instructed the Additional Municipal Magistrate of Vrindavan, Rajkumar Chaudhary, to ensure continuous effective actions for the convenience of devotees and traffic management. The Additional Municipal Magistrate reported that since June 6, 2026, four teams have been conducting operations to remove encroachments, enforce the MV Act, and carry out seizures.
The chairman also directed Assistant Regional Transport Officer Satendra Kumar Singh to take strict action against illegal e-rickshaws and instructed Assistant Director of Food Safety Dheerendra Pratap Singh to ensure stringent measures against vendors selling adulterated food items.
Present at the meeting were retired District and Sessions Judge Mukesh Mishra, District Magistrate Chandraprakash Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Jag Pravesh, Vice Chairman of MVD A Lakshmi N, and members of the Rajbhog and Shayanbhog groups.
Chairman Ashok Kumar emphasized, *“The committee is continuously striving to make Shri Banke Bihari Ji Temple more convenient, clean, and safe for devotees. Strict actions are being taken on issues like traffic management, encroachment removal, and food safety.”*
