Seoul, June 24: During a two-day visit to South Korea, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met with South Korean Foreign Minister Choi Hyun. The discussions focused on enhancing the relationship between the two nations. Jaishankar emphasized that this meeting comes at a crucial time, as the significance of bilateral partnership has increased following the recent high-level presidential visit.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaishankar noted, “Since Choi Hyun took office, we have met in New York, Kuala Lumpur, Washington, during the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting, and most recently during the presidential visit to India. As foreign ministers, it is our responsibility to advance this relationship and better coordinate cooperation across various governmental and economic sectors.”
Jaishankar elaborated on the importance of these relations in the current global context. He stated that cooperation among like-minded countries with shared values and mutual trust is essential in today’s world.
He also highlighted the momentum in bilateral relations, attributing it to recent high-level meetings, including the presidential visit and platforms like the G7, which have provided direction for advancing this partnership.
The Indian minister assured that concrete efforts will be made to realize the full potential of the relationship between the two countries. He praised Choi Hyun’s personal commitment, noting that he has consistently signaled a desire to strengthen this relationship, which India equally values. Jaishankar expressed hope for more positive discussions in the future.
