Haryana Athletes Shine at 2026 Asian Games, CM Naib Singh Saini Congratulates Winners

New Delhi, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : The 2026 Asian Games showcased a remarkable performance from the Indian contingent, which secured a total of 85 medals, including 21 golds. A significant part of this success came from athletes hailing from Haryana, who collectively won 32 medals, 14 of which were gold.

Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini extended his heartfelt congratulations to the state’s athletes for their outstanding achievements. He commended them for elevating India’s stature on the global stage through their impressive performances. Of the 21 gold medals won by India, 14 were clinched by athletes from Haryana, with five individuals achieving gold in individual events and nine contributing to team events.

In addition to their gold medals, Haryana athletes also secured four silver medals in individual competitions and five in team events. Eight athletes from the state earned bronze medals, with notable victories in boxing and freestyle wrestling. Parveen Hooda triumphed in boxing, while Sujeet Kalkal brought home a gold in wrestling.

Wrestler Ankush Panghal excelled in the 80-kilogram category, adding another gold to India’s tally, alongside fellow gold medalists Kirti Sharma and Neeru Dhanda. Additionally, Haryana players were integral to the gold medal-winning teams in hockey and kabaddi, further enhancing the state’s reputation.

India concluded the 2026 Asian Games in fourth place overall, with athletics yielding the highest medal count at 24, which included one gold, nine silver, and 14 bronze. Indian shooters contributed 15 medals, including three golds, while archers brought home nine medals, five of which were gold. The Indian men’s and women’s hockey teams made history by winning gold medals together for the first time in 28 years, and both cricket teams also claimed gold.

This impressive display of talent from Haryana athletes not only highlights their individual skills but also reinforces the state’s crucial role in India’s sporting success on the international stage.
