Mumbai: Former Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu expressed her pride and honour after meeting Indian women’s cricket team captain and Mumbai Indians’ leader, Harmanpreet Kaur. Both Harnaaz and Harmanpreet share roots in Punjab and have achieved global recognition in their respective fields.
Harnaaz shared a photo on Instagram from the first match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026, held at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. In the picture, Harnaaz looks stunning in golden attire alongside Harmanpreet, who sports the Mumbai Indians jersey.
Accompanying the image, Harnaaz wrote, “Punjab nurtured us, India made us, and now the world and universe are our stage. Feeling honoured to meet captain Harmanpreet Kaur today. Chak de fatte.”
The fourth season of the Women’s Premier League began on January 9, 2026, with Mumbai Indians facing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The opening ceremony featured performances by Harnaaz Sandhu, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Honey Singh. Harnaaz set the tone for the evening with a monologue celebrating women’s achievements across India, declaring, “We are ready.”
Under Harmanpreet’s captaincy, Mumbai Indians remain the most successful team in the WPL, having won two titles. Mumbai Indians were also last season’s champions, while Smriti Mandhana-led RCB won the 2024 title. Delhi Capitals have been runners-up for the past three seasons.
On the entertainment front, Harnaaz Sandhu debuted as an actress last year with the film ‘Baagi 4,’ directed by A. Harsha, featuring Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonam Bajwa.
