Dehradun, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has issued a heartfelt defense against allegations that he accepted money in exchange for jobs. In a poignant video posted on Facebook, he held a picture of his mother and declared his innocence, stating, “I swear on my mother… I will fight for the truth until my last breath.”
In the video, Rawat emphasized his integrity, claiming he has never accepted a single rupee for job placements. “I swear on your milk, Mother, I have never taken money for giving anyone a job. I haven’t even accepted tea or water from them,” he stated.
He referred to three maternal figures in his life, including the Earth Mother and Goddess Bhavani, whom he worships daily. Rawat expressed concern that a conspiracy is underway to tarnish his reputation at this stage of his life. “There are efforts to defame me through various posts and newspapers. I swear on you, I have never taken money for jobs or political positions. I have recommended thousands of people without any deals,” he added.
Rawat also addressed the seizure of assets belonging to his associate, Chandan, expressing worry for his friend’s livelihood. “Chandan has served me loyally for many years. Now, his life’s savings have been seized. He has children to support; how will he manage?” he questioned.
In closing, Rawat reaffirmed his commitment to fighting the allegations, saying, “I will not die with this stain on my name. I have prayed to Goddess Jagdamba to keep my life going until I can clear this stain.” He concluded by asking for divine protection as he continues to speak out against the accusations.
